 Crossing

        Crossing is the process of developing new variety  by collecting pollen from one rose and distributing it into different rose.   

Crossing include several steps to develop new variety.

1. Selection of healthy plant.

2. Emasculation:  It is the process removing anther from the flowers of the seed parent with the help of a forceps before anther dehiscence. For emasculation we should choose unopen flower (bud). During emasculation female part of flower should not get damage. The time of emasculation is 7AM to 11AM.

3. Bagging:  Bagging is necessary to prevent fertilization of seed plants from external agents like bee,                         wind etc.

4.Dusting pollen on stigma: This process is perform next day of emasculation. Time is 7AM to11AM.

5.Rebagging:  Purpose of rebagging is same as bagging. It is done till the seed is fully mature.

6.Tagging: Tagging is associated with relevant information such as posture date, pollination date, male and female parent details, etc. This is known as tagging.

Marigold

In most of place people plant marigold on the bunds of paddy field. These marigold bloom at the time of paddy bloom season. Most of pollinating agent like wasp, bee 🐝 are attracted towards attractive colour of marigold flower and their activities help in pollination of rice although we know rice is self pollinated crops but also upto some extent pollinating agent helps in the rice pollination. 

       Some harmful insects stay away from field because of smell of marigold. Some predators are attracted to the field due to flower which is good for paddy fields.

Pulses crop  and oil producing crops

   

Mostly people plant these crops on the bund of field to gain more profit by utilizing small free space, some follow this way of farming to protect their main crops from domestic animals. These companion crops help in nitrogen fixation from atmosphere and this nitrogen are utilized by our paddy crops.

Management

• Use resistant varieties ·
• Raise level of irrigation water periodically.

           Leaf folders are caterpillars of a moth. ... The feeding creates a see-through whitish area on the leaf. The caterpillars are yellow to green. Heavily infested fields appear scorched and have many folded leaves.

Management

• Practice synchronized crop.
• Apply nitrogen as needed. Application of nitrogenous fertilizer is better in split dose.
• Control weeds in the field.
• Perform crop rotation with a non-rice crop during the dry season to decrease alternate hosts for diseases.
• Intercrop upland rice with soybean to reduce the incidence of leafhoppers on rice.

6. Rice green leaf hopper  

             Green leaf hoppers cause direct damage to the rice plant by feeding on rice, sucking plant sap, and plugging the vascular bundles.

Management

• Use GLH-resistant and tungro-resistant varieties.
• Practice synchronized crop.
• Apply nitrogen as needed. Application of nitrogenous fertilizer is better in split dose.
• Control weeds in the field.
• Perform crop rotation with a non-rice crop during the dry season to decrease alternate hosts for diseases.
• Intercrop upland rice with soybean to reduce the incidence of leafhoppers on rice.

7. Grasshopper

              Grasshopper are green or brown in colour. It feed on grass or crops. It's has chewing type of mouth. It can affect paddy fields by cutting the leaf of paddy plant in plant growth stage.

Management

• Spread EcoBran Bait or apply botanical insecticides, such as organic pyrethrins, to areas where you are experiencing heavy grasshopper damage and require a quick-kill. 
•  Azadirachtin insecticidal ingredient found in neem oil. This concentrated spray is approved for organic use and offers multiple modes of action, making it virtually impossible for pest resistance to develop. Best of all, it’s non-toxic to honey bees and many other beneficial insects.
• Roto-till or cultivate crops in the spring to destroy overwintering eggs.
• For long-term grasshopper protection, apply organic Semaspore Bait (Nosema locustae) to hatching beds – field margins and other undisturbed grassy areas – when grasshoppers are young. Heavy infestations may require multiple applications.

•  अरासन वा मृत घोंघा वा मुसा जस्ता गन्धको साथ केहि आकर्षित गर्नेहरूले सजिलैसँग खेतमा धानको बगहरू समात्न सक्छन्।
•  खेत र बण्डहरूलाई झारपात र घाँसहरूमुक्त राख्नुहोस्।

धान के कुछ प्रमुख कीट

 कई कीट हैं जो किसी भी चरण के पौधों के विकास में पूरे धान के खेतों और धान के पौधों को नष्ट कर सकते हैं।

धान के खेतों के कुछ महत्वपूर्ण कीट

1. Brown plant hopper

            ब्राउन प्लांट हॉपर चावल के पौधों पर फ़ीड करता है। ये कीट  धान के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण कीटों में से हैं, जो दुनिया की लगभग आधी आबादी के लिए प्रमुख प्रधान फसल है।

 प्रबंध

 सांस्कृतिक प्रथाएं:

• अतिरिक्त नाइट्रोजन के उपयोग से बचें।
•  साप्ताहिक अंतराल पर रोपाई के 30 दिन बाद पौधे के आधार पर BPH की निगरानी।
•  प्रतिरोधी किस्में IET-7575 और IET-8116।
•  वैकल्पिक रूप से गीला करना और चोटी के उल्लंघन के दौरान खेत को सुखाना।
•  नाइट्रोजन उर्वरक की सिफारिश की खुराक लागू करें।
•  BPH आबादी को कम करने के लिए आंतरायिक (साप्ताहिक) सिंचाई लागू करें।
• धान   के पौधों की बंद छतरी, घनी बीज वाली फसलों से बचें।

जैविक नियंत्रण:

•  वुल्फ स्पाइडर पार्डोसा पुसीडोन्नुलता और लिंक्स स्पाइडर ऑक्सीयोप्स जवनस लीफ-एंड प्लांट हॉपर का शिकार करते हैं।
•  मिरिड बग, साइरथिनहिन लिविंडिपेन रेटर अंडे और GLH, BPH और WBPH के छोटे अप्सराओं का शिकार करते हैं।

 रासायनिक नियंत्रण:

• नर्सरी स्टेज पर मोनोक्रोटोफॉस 35 ईसी @ 2 मिली / ली (624 मिली / एकड़) का छिड़काव करें।
•  पानी की पतली फिल्म की उपस्थिति में दानेदार फोराटे 10 जी @ 4 किग्रा / एकड़ या कार्बोफ्यूरान 3 जी @ 10 किग्रा / एकड़ कीटनाशक का प्रयोग। या
•  स्प्रे इमीडाक्लोप्रिड 200 एसएल @ 0.5 मिली (125 मिली / एकड़) या थायोमेथाक्सम 25 डब्ल्यूजी @ 0.5 ग्राम (125 किग्रा / एकड़) या फासलोने 35 ई सी @ 2 मि.ली. / ली (800 मि.ली. / एकड़) पानी या क्विनलफॉस 5 जी @ 12 किग्रा / एकड़।

2. White back plant hopper

 वयस्क: छोटे, पुआल के रंग, उनकी पीठ पर सफेद पट्टी के साथ आकार के कीड़े। सैप चूसो और अनियमित पैच में कारण, वृद्धि हुई है।

 प्रबंध

 सांस्कृतिक प्रथाएं:

• अतिरिक्त नाइट्रोजन के उपयोग से बचें।
•  साप्ताहिक अंतराल पर रोपाई के 30 दिन बाद संयंत्र के आधार पर WBPH की निगरानी
•  वैकल्पिक रूप से गीला करना और चोटी के उल्लंघन के दौरान खेत को सुखाना।
•  नाइट्रोजनयुक्त उर्वरकों की अनुशंसित खुराक लागू करें।

जैविक नियंत्रण:

•  मिरिड बग, साइरथिनहिन लिविंडिपेन रेटर अंडे और WBPH के छोटे अप्सराओं का शिकार करते हैं

 रासायनिक नियंत्रण:

•  नर्सरी स्टेज पर मोनोक्रोटोफॉस 35 ईसी @ 2 मिली / ली (624 मिली / एकड़) का छिड़काव करें।
•  दानेदार फ़ोरेट 10 जी @ 4 किग्रा / एकड़ या कार्बोफ्यूरान 3 जी @ 10 किग्रा / एकड़ कीटनाशक का आवेदन पानी की पतली फिल्म की उपस्थिति में या

3. Rice earhead bug

 व्यक्तिगत अनाज से सैप को चूसना, जो दूधिया अवस्था में है। अलग-अलग अनाज चैफी बन जाते हैं। लेकिन वयस्क और अप्सरा नुकसान करते हैं।

 प्रबंध

•  सांस्कृतिक विधि; वैकल्पिक मेजबानों को हटाने जैसे बन्स पर घास, जल्दी रोपण, और देर से परिपक्व होने वाली खेती का उपयोग।
•  बग को नेट करना और हैंडपैक करना उनकी संख्या को कम करता है।
•  आकर्षित करने वाले पदार्थ जैसे कि अरसन या किसी भी चीज़ की गंध के साथ मृत घोंघे या चूहे को खेत में आसानी से पकड़ सकते हैं।
•  खेत और मेड़ को खरपतवारों और घासों से मुक्त रखें।

रासायनिक तरीके:

•  ETL: फूल पर 5 कीड़े / 100 कान के सिर और दूधिया अवस्था से अनाज की परिपक्वता तक 16 कीड़े / 100 कान के सिर।
•  निम्नलिखित में से किसी एक को दो बार स्प्रे करें
•  फेनियन 100 ईसी @ 500 मिली / हे (या) मैलाथियान 50 ईसी @ 500 मिली / हे।
•  कीटनाशक को 25 किग्रा / हेक्टेयर की दर से दो बार, फूल आने के दौरान पहले और दूसरे को एक सप्ताह बाद लगाएं।

 There are several pest which can destroy whole paddy fields and paddy plant in any stage plants growth.

1. Brown plant hopper

           Brown plant hopper  feeds on rice plants. These insects are among the most important pests of rice, which is the major staple crop for about half the world's population. 

Management

Cultural practices:

• Avoid use of excess nitrogen.
• Monitoring of BPH at base of the plant 30 days after transplanting at weekly interval.
• Resistant varieties IET-7575 and IET-8116.
• Alternate wetting and drying the field during peak infestation.
• Apply recommended dose of nitrogen fertilizer.
• Apply intermittent (weekly) irrigation to reduce the BPH population.
• Avoid Closed canopy of the rice plants, densely seeded crops.

Biological control:

• Wolf Spider Pardosa psuedoannulata and Lynx spider Oxyopes javanus prey on  leaf-and plant hoppers.
• Mirid bug, Cyrtorhinus lividipennis  Reuter prey on eggs and small nymphs of GLH,BPH and WBPH.

Chemical control:

• Spray monocrtophos 35 EC @ 2ml/l (624ml/acre) at nursery stage.
• Application of granular phorate 10G@ 4kg/acre or carbofuran 3G@ 10kg/acre insecticides in presence of thin film of water. or
• Spray imidacloprid 200 SL @ 0.5ml (125ml/acre) or thiomethaxm 25WG @ 0.5g (125kg/acre) or phaslone 35 EC @ 2ml/l (800ml/acre) water or quinolphos 5G @ 12kg/acre.

2. White back plant hopper

     Adult: Tiny, straw coloured, wedge shaped insects with white stripe on their back.   Suck the sap and cause stunted growth , caused in irregular patches.

 

Management

Cultural practices:

• Avoid use of excess nitrogen.
• Monitoring of WBPH at base of the plant 30 days after transplanting at weekly interval
• Alternate wetting and drying the field during peak infestation.
• Apply recommended dose of nitrogenous fertilizers.

Biological control:

• Mirid bug, Cyrtorhinus lividipennis Reuter prey on eggs and small nymphs of WBPH
• Spider (Paradosa, Tetragnatha, Argiope, Araenus, Oxypes)feed on  leaf-and plant hoppers.
• Damsel flies, Dragon flies prey on hoppers and moths.

Chemical control:

• Spray monocrtophos 35 EC @ 2ml/l (624ml/acre) at nursery stage.
• Application of granular phorate 10G@ 4kg/acre or carbofuran 3G@ 10kg/acre insecticides in presence of thin film of water or
• Spray imidacloprid 200 SL @ 0.5ml (125ml/acre) or thiomethaxm 25WG @ 0.5g (125kg/acre) or phaslone 35 EC @ 2ml/l (800ml/acre) water or quinolphos 5G @ 12kg/acre. 

3. Rice earhead bug 

             Sucking the sap from individual grains, which are in milky stage. Individual grains become chaffy.Both adults and nymphs do the damage .

Management

• Cultural method; removal of alternate hosts such as grasses on bunds, early planting, and the use of late-maturing cultivars.
• Netting and handpicking the bugs reduce their numbers.
• Putting attractants such as arasan or anything with an odor like dead snails or rats can easily capture rice bugs in the field.
• Keep the field and bunds free of weeds and grasses.

Chemical Methods:

• ETL : 5 bugs/100 ear heads at flowering and 16 bugs/100 ear heads from milky stage to grain maturity.
• Spray any one of the following twice
• Fenthion 100 EC @ 500 ml/ha (or) Malathion 50 EC @ 500 ml/ha.
• Apply insecticides at 25 kg/ha twice, the first during flowering and second a week later.

•  खेतों को साफ रखें।
•  संतुलन पोषण का उपयोग करें; सुनिश्चित करें कि पर्याप्त पोटेशियम का उपयोग किया जाता है।

7. Red strip

एक धारी के साथ एक नारंगी स्थान की जाँच करें। यह पत्ती झुलसा रोग के समान है।

प्रबंध

•  प्रतिरोधी किस्म का प्रयोग करें।
•  फसल की वास्तविक आवश्यकताओं के आधार पर नाइट्रोजन लगाएं।
•  अंतरिक्ष बनाए रखें (20 × 30 सेमी)।
•  पैन्कल्स दीक्षा के दौरान आंतरायिक जल निकासी सुनिश्चित करें।
•  बीज के उपचार के लिए बेंज़िमिडाज़ोल्स फफूंदनाशक कार्बेन्डाज़िम का प्रयोग करें।

8. Bakana

       

  बकाना एक बीजजनित कवक रोग है। कवक रोग। पौधे की जड़ें और मुकुट प्रभावित होते हैं। यह पौधे के टिलर को प्रभावित करता है और केवल आंशिक रूप से भरे हुए या खाली अनाज का उत्पादन करता है।

प्रबंध

•  बीमारियों के होने की आशंका को कम करने के लिए स्वच्छ बीजों का उपयोग करें।
•  भिगोने के दौरान हल्के वजन, संक्रमित बीज को अलग करने के लिए नमक के पानी का उपयोग करें।
•  बीज उपचार के रूप में कवकनाशी का उपयोग करें।
•  थीरम + बेनोमील के संयोजन का उपयोग करें।

9. Sheath rot

       

   यह रोग कवक के कारण होता है। यह अनचाहे बीजों और बाँझ पान के बीजों को पैदा करके या इमरजेंसी में पैंकिज़ इमरजेंसी को कम करके अनाज की पैदावार को कम कर देता है। शीथ रॉट भी दाने की गुणवत्ता को कम कर देता है जिससे पैने सड़ जाते हैं और दाने मुरझा जाते हैं।

 प्रबंध

•  यह बीजजनित रोग है। स्वस्थ बीजों का उपयोग करें।
•  चावल के खेतों में कीट के संक्रमण को कम करें।
•  फ़ील्ड से बुलबुले निकालें क्योंकि कवक लंबे समय तक बुलबुले में रह सकते हैं।
•  उचित रिक्ति में संयंत्र।
•  सरसों के चरण में पोटाश लगायें।
•  कैल्शियम सल्फेट और जिंक सल्फेट के पर्ण स्प्रे लगायें।
•  बीज उपचार फफूंदनाशक जैसे कार्बेन्डाजिम, एडीफेनोस या मोमकोबेज को बीज उपचार के रूप में तथा बूटिंग के समय पर्ण स्प्रे के रूप में लगायें।

10. Blast (node and neck) 

              

  इस बीमारी में धान के पौधे की गर्दन गल जाती है, अंडाकार पत्ती की जगह।

प्रबंध

•  प्रतिरोधी किस्म का प्रयोग करें।
•  रोपण समय को समायोजित करें।
•  नाइट्रोजन उर्वरक की स्पिलिड खुराक लागू करें।
•  जितनी बार संभव हो मैदान को बाढ़ दें।
•  ट्राईजोल और स्ट्रोबिल्यूरिन्स जैसे प्रणालीगत कवकनाशी का उपयोग किया जा सकता है।

•  बीज उपचार गर्नको लागि बेन्जिमिडाजोल फ fun्गलसाइड कार्बेन्डाजिम, बेनोमिल प्रयोग गर्नुहोस्।

8. Bakana

बकाना एक बीजजनित फंगल रोग हो। ढुसी रोग। जरा र बिरूवा को मुकुट प्रभावित छन्। यसले बोटको टिलरिंगलाई असर गर्छ र केवल आंशिक रूपमा भरिएको वा खाली अनाज उत्पादन गर्दछ।

व्यवस्थापन

•   सफा बीज प्रयोग गर्नुहोस्
•  भिजेको समयमा हल्का तौल, संक्रमित बीज छुट्याउन नुनको पानी प्रयोग गर्नुहोस्।
•  बीज उपचारको रूपमा ढुसीनाशक (fungicide) प्रयोग गर्नुहोस्।
•  थिराम + बेनोमिलको संयोजन प्रयोग गर्नुहोस्।

9. Sheath rot 

यो रोग फg्गलसको कारणले हुन्छ। यसले अनाज उपज घटाउँछ वा प्यानेल इमर्जेन्सीको परित्याग गरेर अपरिचित बीज र बाँझ प्यानलहरू उत्पादन गर्दछ। म्यान सड्न धानको सडनको कारण धान्यको गुणस्तरलाई पनि कम गर्दछ र अनाजहरू पनि विचलित हुन्छ|

व्यवस्थापन

•  यो बीउजन्य रोग हो। स्वस्थ बीज प्रयोग गर्नुहोस्।
•  धानको खेतमा कीरा स्राव कम गर्नुहोस्।
•  मैदानबाट स्ट्रबल्सलाई हटाउनुहोस् किनभने फ fun्गरस लामो समयसम्म ठूलाहरूमा रहन सक्छ।
•  उचित दूरीमा प्लान्ट गर्नुहोस्।
•  टिलरिंग चरणमा पोटाश लागू गर्नुहोस्।
•  क्याल्सियम सल्फेट र जिंक सल्फेटको फोलियर स्प्रे लागू गर्नुहोस्।
•  बीज उपचार फg्गलसाइड जस्तै कार्बेन्डाजिम, एडिफेन्फोस वा मम्कोजेब्स बीज उपचारको रूपमा प्रयोग गर्नुहोस् र बुटिंगमा फोलियर स्प्रे गर्नुहोस्।
